OMRRA modifies 85GP class rules

The OMRRA board met Thursday night to review modifications to the rulebook appendix. The 85GP class is an appendix to the rulebook therefore any rule changes to the class don't go to the general membership for voting, they go before the board for adjustment and voting.

The result of the review is summarized as this:
- 2-stroke engine displacement has been increased to 93cc.
- 4-stroke 150cc water cooled engines are now allowed.
- Chassis restriction has been removed.
- Zero rise clip-ons must be used regardless of chassis (no MX handlebars).

Specific wording for the class definition change has yet to be posted.

Overall this brings OMRRA into alignment with the majority of other 85GP classes run in the US and Canada.

Outstanding is the rule proposal brought by the general membership to restrict riders under the age of 12 to the 85GP and Pocketbike classes. Age is part of the primary rulebook (not an appendix) so this change is still out to the general membership for vote. Ironic considering that OMRRA was the club that issued then 11-year old racer Elena Myers her expert license while riding a 125cc GP bike when other clubs wouldn't have anything to do with her due to her age. Myers went on to win her first races with OMRRA.
